In response to new societal and environmental challenges, Zéphyr & Borée, Arcadie, and Julien Noé, founding president of Enercoop, have launched Windcoop, the first activist cooperative shipping company offering carbon-free shipping.

The aim: to offer a new economic model that is transparent, sustainable and accessible to as many people as possible.

Construction of the first Windcoop container ship is scheduled for 2023, with the first run between France and Madagascar in 2025.

The cooperative is positioned as the only shipping company to offer a direct route between France and Madagascar, with an estimated transit time of 30 days at an average speed of 8 knots.

The 85m-long vessel is designed to carry around a hundred containers with a maximum tonnage of 1,400t, and to be sailed, which will save up to 90% in fossil fuels on transatlantic line.

The cargo ship is also designed to accommodate 12 passengers who will live at the crew’s pace for an extraordinary experience aboard one of the first cargo sailing ships in operation!
