The project

TAO operates an essential public-transport service across Lorient harbour, carrying approximately 900,000 passengers each year with a fleet of six vessels. Since 2024, Zéphyr & Borée has operated the IziLo Mobilités ferry routes through its subsidiary TAO. Priorities include service continuity, schedule reliability, long-term fleet maintenance and a structured transition towards battery-electric and hydrogen-hybrid propulsion.

Operations and impact

Lorient Agglomération has set a clear roadmap: to decarbonise the entire six-vessel harbour fleet within seven years. The programme combines battery-electric propulsion for part of the fleet and hydrogen-hybrid solutions for the rest, together with operational measures such as speed management and more efficient passenger boarding. This shared vision led Zéphyr & Borée to join forces with IziLo and RATP Dev to support the decarbonisation of the maritime network of our home port.

How Z&B delivers this project

Zéphyr & Borée operates the service on behalf of RATP Dev through TAO, in which it holds a 90% stake alongside Lorient-based operating partner Escal’Ouest (10%). TAO combines local roots with maritime operating expertise: Z&B was founded in Lorient, remains headquartered there, and several of its team members take the harbour ferry every day.
